THE PROBLEM:
Scammers mislead unwise consumers into believing they can acquire an object for a higher quality or lower price than the normal product.
Fake trader scams trick consumers, taking your money and your personal data. They exist on online shopping pages, websites or even social media pages. They look similar to trustworthy and established brands, using sophisticated designs, stolen logos, a ‘.com.au’ domain name and stolen Australian Business Number. They take your personal information including your credit card details that you enter. You will never receive your product with your identity possibly stolen. According the ACCC, July 2019 had 807 reports of online shopping scams with $535 579 lost.
